My Opinion on Modern Slavery

Prior to writing this post I read two articles;" The Facts: Slavery, human trafficking definitions",and "Your tomato's possible ties to slavery" by Amanda Kloer, Special to CNN. Both of them confirmed my opinion that slavery never really left the United States, it just went unnoticed.

March 24, 2011: Book Reflections

So far i think the book is very interesting my favorite part of the book so far is chapters six and seven because of the way the author describes what was happening between Huck and his father in such great detail. Also, how Huck faked his death was immaculate he left no tracks but a ton of evidence of his "death".

If I were in that situation I would either, flee Salem before being apprehended, or confess even though I am innocent. At this point I am not sure which one because both of these choices sound reasonable.

The Puritans: Febuary 3,2011

What were some of the underlying beliefs that Puritans possessed? 
  Puritans believed that the sole purpose of life is to live glorifying the Lord and obeying the scriptures. They also believed that Jesus died because of the original sin of Adam and Eve, and they being the descendants of them should honor the sacrifice by living a life which was governed by his commandments and instructions.the Puritans hold matrimony extremely sacred and unified by God's will. Therefore, their approach to divorce is only under the following conditions: death, desertion, and adultery. In all the above cases the innocent partner is allowed to remarry.
How did their beliefs affect their daily lives?
  The man was suppose to be the head of the family and the wife was the one responsible for the taking care of the house and the kids. If the kids were not well mannered and given proper Godly knowledge and spiritual growth, the parents, especially the wife was to be blamed for it. The Puritan wife knew that her duty and responsibility was first towards God, then towards the husband and then towards the children.

Could you live in a Puritanical society?  Why or why not?
To live in this type of society would be difficult for me because it would be hard for me to see my mom basically be a robot. 

What would be the most difficult part (for you) about being raised in that type of environment?  The hardest part of living with these rules to me would be living by the bible all day everyday.

The Crucible "Deep Thoughts"

The phrase that I chose was "It's more difficult to forgive yourself if the person you have hurt doesn't forgive you." I chose this one because a few weeks ago I went hiking and lied to my parents about who I was with and then I was forced to tell my parents the truth when I got lost. After this incident my parent could trust me or forgive very quickly, therefore, I couldn't forgive myself. I believe that once you figure out the true meaning of this phrase you will never want to lie or hurt anyone ever again. 

Thoreau's Civil Disobedience Vignettes

1) In this situation I believe that civil disobedience would not work because "I" had other choices besides enlisting into the military. Therefore, "I" sign up to fight for my country through anything, but if I really didn't want to fight I could "get injured" and LEGALLY not fight in the war.

2) If a person came to my door that was illegally in the U.S, I would choose to help them. Because no one can tell me who I should and shouldn't help.

3) I did not sign up for the military so I have obligation to fight for my country, and if someone were to try to make me fight I would gladly go to prison.

4) Yes this action is justified because they aren't displaying any violence.

January 7, 2011 Shooting

On January 7, 2011 a total of 19 people were shot in Tucson at a Safeway. Six of those who were shot died including a federal judge and a nine year old girl. Thirteen of the shooting victims were just injured including Gabrielle Giffords. When I first heard about this shooting it was said that Giffords was dead. My opinion on this event is, the person who did this is not the sharpest tool in the shead, but hopefully he feels gulty about what he did. for guilt is the ultimate punishment.

I feel that this new law is unfair because there are other classes in TUSD the are ethnic specific, like African American Studies and Native American Studies.

      -Most airplane structures include a fuselage, wings, an empennage, landing gear, and a powerplant.
      -The fuselage is the central body of an airplane and is designed to accommodate the crew, passengers, and cargo.
      -Older types of aircraft design utilized an open truss structure constructed of wood, steel, or aluminum tubing.
      -The wings are airfoils attached to each side of the fuselage and are the main lifting surfaces that support the airplane in flight. There are numerous wing designs, sizes, and shapes used by the various manufacturers.
      -Wings can be attached at the top, middle, or lower part of the fuselage. These designs are referred to as high-, mid-, and low-wing, respectively. The number of wings can also vary. Airplanes with a single set of wings are referred to asmonoplanes, while those with two sets are called biplanes.

The Weather

Cold weather, to me, is way better than being hot because when it is hot there is really no way to cool yourself down without air conditioning or swiming. However, when it is cold out there are tons of ways to stay warm. So the cold weather doesn't bother me.

My Education: What Do I Want to Learn About?

My education from kindergarten to now has been mostly robotic. Lecture--notes--discussion--classwork--homework--project--repeat; give or take a classwork assignment.

For most kids school is never really something that they want to do it's more something they have to do. I am one of those oddball kids that enjoys learning and going to school. However, going to certain classes is a job in itself, history and English are subjects that I have never really been in to and the way that the schools teach it don't make it easier. When a class bores me my grades tend to drop.

Foreclosure: What Was Left Behind

Foreclosure is a big issue that has grasped the attention of everyone in America. People being tragically forced out of there homes, families having to abandon their childhood home full of secret memories. 



 

 "Mommy, Daddy, I forgot Mr. Teddy. Can we go back to get him?" Choking back tears of rage and regret,"Sorry honey we can't go back." "But why?" say the little girl as she begins to cry. "Just forget the bear, we will get you a new one!" the mother says in a tone so harsh it's almost like she is blaming her child, as the dad stays in a shameful scilence. The car stays stunded into peace, the parents can't keep their tears back. They look at eachother and see in oneanothers eyes that everything is going to be just fine.

Tyler Clementi

Tyler Clementi was an average college student, until his roommate, Dharun Ravi, decided to put web cameras up in their room. Then he went to fellow freshman Molly Wei's room and started a live stream of Clementi kissing a guy. This video was spread across the entire Twitter site. Days after this incident Clementi took his own life by jumping off a bridge.This "prank" video destroyed someones life and because of a homophobic roommate.This is a story that should make people feel and desire to be better Internet citizens. People also, should have learned that if you are homophobic then just keep it to yourself because some one just might loose their life and next time the gay might survive.

Grapes of Wrath: Chapter 4 Quiz

To be perfectly honest I didn't read past the the second page of the chapter. So from what I read this book was still boring to me. But the turtle peeing on Joad was really funny.

I don't know how I feel about it, but usuallywhen teachers pick books for me they always say it is a great book, but I never like them. We'll see what happens. :)
